About Northeast Auctions
Major cataloged auctions are scheduled five times a year and include quality American, English and Continental furniture, paintings, ceramics, silver and other fine and decorative arts. These sales are two-day weekend events with three scheduled for the first weekends of March, August and November and located in the restored Armory at the Center of New Hampshire, Manchester, convenient to major airports and highways. Our mid-May auction is held at the Frank Jones center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The annual Marine Sale takes place mid-August at Treadwell Mansion, our headquarters in historic Portsmouth, New Hampshire, one hour north of Boston. In addition, we schedule general estate sales periodically throughout the year at the Frank Jones Center in Portsmouth.
Northeast Auctions offers one of the lowest buyer's premiums of any major auction house, no state sales tax and uncomplicated conditions of sale.
History of Northeast Auctions
Northeast Auctions, begun in 1987 and specializing in the fine and decorative arts of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, is widely recognized as an important marketplace and resource for collectors, dealers and museums. With annual sales approaching $25 million, it is ranked among the largest auction houses in the United States. Ronald Bourgeault, owner and auctioneer, has been actively involved in the antiques business for over 40 years and began Northeast Auctions after a long career as a dealer. Building on his wide network of contacts in the field, Ron prides himself on taking a personal interest in consignors and bidders alike- an old-fashioned notion that fits his "hands-on" style.
